On July 24th, TORCH continued their look at homelessness and poverty in the Twin Cities by partnering with Second Harvest Heartland for a Minnesota Hunger 101 Simulation. Teens were asked to take on the life circumstances of someone in Minnesota at risk for hunger. Their goal was to try to get enough food to feed his or her family for one day by tapping into their local resources (Food Shelf, County Human Services, SNAP, Grocery Store, and the Bank). As always, TORCH took on this challenge with everything they had. The Second Harvest volunteers said that they have never seen such a focused and diligent youth group before. We are so proud!
We continued our fun at Bryant Lake Beach where we were blessed with a perfect Minnesota beach day. We pigged out on pizza, floated on tubes & rafts, played games, and cooled off with ice cream from DQ. Great day!
