Summer Stretch Flex 5 - Habitat for Humanity

The TORCH youth took to the Holy Family High School cafeteria in the latest TORCH Summer Stretch Flex event. This week, they worked with Habitat for Humanity, learning about homelessness and poverty issues while building toyboxes with our awesome parent volunteers. The boxes were built from scratch by the TORCH teens, and are now being sent off to be sold in the Habitat for Humanity Restore, a low-cost home improvement store for low-income homeowners.

The project helped the teens grow in many ways. They learned about issues regarding poverty, they grew in team-building and group work skills, and learned how to build a nice wooden toybox! The TORCH youth had a blast putting these together and working in teams to help others.

After the Habitat for Humanity project, TORCH ventured out to Cascade Bay in Eagan for an afternoon of fun in the summer sun. The lazy river and SEVEN waterslides were a great way to spend the afternoon.

Thank you, TORCH teens, for a fun and rewarding day!
